We call on you to mobilize against the sand extraction project in the Bay of Lannion.

There since 2010, a mining concession application and opening exploitation works by SEA, a subsidiary specialized Souillier group in "nature's resources" (irony). The goal is to extract 400,000 m3 per year of shell sand dune on a hydraulic to amend soil for vegetable gardening in agreement with the aberrant policy of intensive agriculture.

The scope of operation is less than 6 km from the coast between two Natura 2000 areas including that of the reserve of the Seven Islands, beautiful sanctuary of seabirds.
We can observe the monks including puffins, Manx shearwaters, gannets in birds and a colony of gray seals in marine mammals.

To protect these places, there is urgency!

The Minister of Economy, Emmanuel Macron, finally decided to give the green light to this project. While it has limited extraction from 400 000 to 250 000 m3 per year but the absurdity remains the same.

This is a disaster, this aberration is endangering the ecosystem!

Take the sand while rejecting turbid water is dangerous for all the fauna: fish, birds, mammals ...

The shell sand dune is a breeding area for sand eels, a fish that feed on other species such as bass, pollack ...
The dune also hosts flatfish.

Not to mention the lack of food that would inure to seabirds such as puffins already highly threatened our shores ...
Recall that the reserve of the Seven Islands was under the protection of the LPO (League for the Protection of Birds) in 1912 to fight against the massacre of puffins on this site. In 2015, they are again threatened by the same predator, man ...

Hydraulic dunes formed not in the wind but by the sea currents not only provide habitat but also strong swell damper and also provided material for the surrounding beaches along the shoreline in the same way that aerial dune.

For several years, the world's beaches are disappearing inexorably.
The causes are many excessive concrete, rising waters and plundering of the marine sand ...
If you want to know more about this problem, there is a very interesting documentary: Sand, investigating a disappearance (you can find it on the web).

That is why it is our duty to protect our environment.
Biodiversity is in danger ; react !!
Do not let short-term economy win again Life .

You can bring your stone to the building by participating in demonstrations against the project in Lannion or relaying the information to your loved ones.
